Job Description

GRC Hydro is seeking a Water Engineer to join our growing team, with multiple positions currently available. Successful candidates will undertake flood and stormwater modelling for flood studies, floodplain management, urban drainage assessments and infrastructure design projects. We are looking to fill a range of positions ranging from Graduate Engineers to Senior Engineer. All candidates are expected to have significant experience in stormwater and flood modelling, or if a graduate, a keen interest in learning and acquiring knowledge of flood modelling.

Candidates must have:

• Significant experience as a water engineer, or be applying for the Graduate Engineer position.


• Significant experience with TUFLOW model software including demonstration of relevant projects on submitted CV (unless applying for the Graduate position).

The successful candidate will have opportunities to:

• Undertake flood and floodplain management studies for a diverse range of projects and localities


• Work on major development and infrastructure projects of national and global significance


• Develop, enhance, calibrate and review hydrologic and hydraulic models


• Participate in all aspects of a project from the tendering phase through to project completion


• Interact with clients and manage aspects of a project


• Be mentored by experienced project managers, hydrologists and flood modellers


• Work as part of competent, professional, friendly team

Preferred candidates will have the following qualifications and experience:

• 2 years or more experience as a water engineer with specific expertise in flooding and/or stormwater modelling. We have a range of positions currently available and can tailor the position and salary to a range of candidates, including Senior Engineers with over 10 years' experience.


• Graduate degree in either civil or environmental engineering, or other tertiary qualification pertaining to hydraulic and hydrologic modelling


• Experience with commonly used hydrologic and hydraulic model software including WBNM, DRAINS, HEC-RAS and TUFLOW (unless applying to the Graduate Engineer position)


• Demonstrated ability in written and verbal communication


• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good working relationships

We are offering a full-time position based in our Sydney office. We offer employees flexibility between work from home and working in the office. Currently most staff work largely from home. The successful candidate may be required to travel throughout NSW for meetings and site visits.
