Engineering Technologist 


We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technologist to become a part of our multidisciplinary engineering team in Melbourne. As part of your role, you will be required to work both independently and alongside a team to analyse, modify and develop new and existing engineering technologies and apply them in the testing and implementation of engineering projects. The ideal applicant is required to have a minimum of two years’ experience working in the field. 


Responsibilities include: 



  • Assisting CAD/CAM Engineers and Engineering Technologists in the design of mechanical equipment and programming to cut material for manufacturing 

  • Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings and design comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria, and recommend approval or disapproval.

  • Conducting all duties in accordance with procedures as specified by the quality system to ensure that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions 

  • Performing technical interactions with suppliers and customers and responsible for preparing engineering drawings (2D CAD modelling) under the supervision of Engineering Technologists and CAD/CAM Engineers 

  • Collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing drawings

  • Addressing technical problems with proactive solutions through inhouse technical meetings 

  • Interacting with various manufacturing departments such as; cutting, folding, linishing and welding, to program accordingly, to reduce process time delays 

  • Working with the sales department on designs, gathering quotations on material costs and quantities

  • Design and development of sheet metal components and developing CAD/CAM programs using Auto CAD and SigmaNest-CAD/CAM software

  • Developing prototype sheet metal components such as barrel, cone, channel & angle and calculating flat pattern for cutting, folding and rolling form the customer end

  • Providing technical support to shop floor employees regarding mechanical design, fabrication, testing and documentation 

  • Liasing with external parties, OEM suppliers, design companies and component suppliers 

  • Issuing job cards through ECI M1 software to the Workshop Manager to ensure the required drawings, documents and specifications accompanying the job are issued and complete
