We are seeking a motivated GP Medical Receptionist in Newcastle Sydney. 28 to 40/hour depending on experience. Full time or Part time position available.

The Role

An opportunity exists for experienced medical receptionists, one junior and one senior, up to four days a week plus sick & holiday cover, to join our long-established privately owned general practice. Immediate start.

This role is y for a motivated person who not only has excellent administrative skills but also has outstanding customer service skills. We are seeking a team player to assist in the daily operations of our front desk. You must have the ability to multitask, be a hands on individual and be self-motivated.

Essential Criteria: Minimum of 1 year experience working in a general practice for the junior

Junior Duties include: 

• All elements of customer service including telephone and face to face

• Processing payments and invoicing

• Basic administrative duties including scanning, filing, faxing, mailing etc

• Organising and management of appointments and patient enquiries

• Support general practice maintenance

• Excellent time management with fast pace and multi-tasking skills

• Caring and compassionate personality

• Proficient with medical specific software Best Practice

• Knowledge of Medicare Benefits Schedule

• Positive, with a strong work ethic, reliable, willing to learn new knowledge

For Senior Medical Receptionist: 

• Good knowledge in Best Practice, PIPS, WIPS and PRODA. Ensure software including Best Practice is updated with all Medicare, Veterans Affairs’, Workcover and Insurance report amounts being updated in a timely manner

• Collection of debt including monitoring and following up debtors

• Business development strategies for change and growth

• Maintain knowledge of and a commitment to Quality Improvement and Risk Management

• With input from Principal & staff, develop and maintain appropriate Policies and Procedures for the business. • Drive the ongoing accreditation process, ensuring all standards are maintained consistent with RACGP and QPA accreditation standards as applicable to the service

Key skills and Requirements

  • Must be living in Australia with an easy reach to Newcastle Sydney
  • Previous working experience in a general practice
  • Used Best Practice Software
  • Local residents in Lake Macquarie and Newcastle Area preferred
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail
